Every day I meet amazing people!
In the hospital, where I work as a physiotherapist, I hear stories from people whose life circumstances and health issues have at times been completely overwhelming. I also see the amazing capacity of those people to transcend their difficulties and reconnect with their own inner strengths, as well as the capacity to build physical resilience and well-being.
I feel privileged to have found an environment where I can work with others who inspire me and share in my desire to support people towards healthier and happier ways of being. This work has not only been professionally satisfying but deeply enriching at a personal level.
It is my hope that in this website I can share some of the understanding and skills I have gained from my observations of what helps people most , as well as from my personal experience of life’s ‘ups and downs’.
I am a Chartered Physiotherapist, with a special interest in Mind-Body medicine. I have worked in the NHS and private practice, and have training in Acupuncture and Mindfulness Based Cognitive therapy. I currently work in the NHS Centre for Integrative Care in Glasgow, and as well as working with in-patients I am part of the WEL service team. This is a group-based therapeutic service which initially offered support to people with CFS/ME, and now also offers a service for those with other long term health issues.
I have recently enjoyed and completed my training as a Yoga Teacher. This was a challenging and profound journey of self discovery and awareness, which I feel has supported and informed my work as a physiotherapist. I am utterly convinced of the benefits of Mindful Yoga practice for all of us! I teach in Balance Yoga, Chiropractic and Complementary Health Centre.
I am also very grateful to have a dear and supportive husband, the best four children in the universe, and good friends who add colour and joy to my life!
